Learning a language is a marathon not a sprint. Often students are advancing more than parents or themselves realize. As I said earlier in point 3 there are four skills and each child will be better at some than others. It is easy to compare your child with other children and feel concerned but the main thing is positivity and practice. I am not naturally skilled at foreign languages, but thanks to the support and positive comments of thousands of kind Japanese people I can speak daily Japanese and I am now finally able to read a Japanese newspaper with the help of a dictionary. That has taken me 20 years, but I continue with my studies because I enjoy it.
